<div class=""> <div class=""> <div class=""> <div class=""><span class="">Gary Dowsett was Deputy Director of the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society (ARCSHS), La Trobe University, Melbourne, from 1997-2019. He held a Personal Chair in Sex, Health and Society at ARCSHS from 2006 and </span><span class="">is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, elected in 2008<span class="">. He </span>has also held academic and research positions at Macquarie University, Sydney, and at Columbia University, New York, USA, and is an Adjunct Professor, Centre for Social Research in Health, UNSW Sydney, since 2014.</span></div> </div> <div class=""> <div class=""> </div> </div> <div class=""> <div class=""><span class="">Gary is internationally recognised for his work in the areas of Sociology, Public Health, Gender, Sexuality, Men's Health and HIV/AIDS. He has received numerous awards, has published 7 books, 40 book chapters, 81 scholarly articles, 35 reports, 78 other publications, and has a career total of 48 research grants with funding of AU$9m and US$ 2.5m.</span></div> </div> <div class=""> <div class=""> </div> </div> <div class=""> <div class=""><span class="">Emeritus Professor Dowsett is still actively engaged in research and publication and has a lifetime commitment to supporting researchers and the research community.</span></div> </div> </div> </div>
