Catherine McMahon

  • Professor Catherine McMahon was a research and teaching academic in the Psychology Department at Macquarie University between 2002 and 2021. She held several research leadership positions and supervised numerous higher degree research students.  Her research focuses on psychosocial wellbeing and the parent-child relationship in various perinatal risk contexts. 

    Supported by Category 1 (NHMRC and ARC, including 3 linkage projects), Philanthropic, and partnership funding, her research has consolidated strong multi-disciplinary collaborations across Australia and internationally. She has published more than 100 peer reviewed journal articles, 5 book chapters, co-edited a cross-disciplinary developmental textbook and she is currently writing a book on contemporary challenges in becoming a parent. She remains actively engaged in research and publication, with a sustained commitment to supporting the research community in Australia.
