Mandy Thomas

  • Mandy is an anthropologist with extensive experience with research and research development. She has previously been Executive Dean of Creative Industries at QUT; Pro Vice Chancellor for Research at ANU, and prior to that was the Executive Director, Humanities and Creative Arts at the ARC. 

    Mandy’s own research was focused on migration to Australia, and migrant communities; as well as social and political change in Vietnam. She has published widely, and her work has attracted significant external funding, including ARC grants.

    During her various roles she has focused particularly on building the capacity of early career researchers. She was chair of the promotions processes at ANU and during this time she engaged across the university with researchers from doctoral to leadership level to enhance careers and provide advice on career development and enhancement.
